Are Minivans Hot?

Its a question I’m asked on a weekly basis. “How do you like driving your Minivan?”

A question to which I smirk at the ridiculousness of and answer boldly with “My Minivan Rocks!” Its the same philosophy as if you say something enough times, you start to believe it.

My fellow hot minivan driving and Mommy blogger, Kelli Stuart, from over at posted a great video to help you all join in on the age old debate of  Are Minivans Hot? To which I answer with “yes, Duh!” Join in on the convo over at her site too. I promise you’ll laugh. Some might cry and others of you will secretly want a minivan but never admit it to anyone. Embrace it!

Preschool Musical

The days have been really long the last few weeks with 3 kids under the age of 4 and way more snow than I ever care to see again. We’ve gone days at a time with out ever leaving the house. (Gasp!) I know!  Its been rough.

Recently my 4 year old son and my 3 year old daughter have been fighting a lot and are  having a hard time agreeing on things. Below is a clip from a Sesame Street segment I saw about a year ago. I often immediately think of it when my toddlers can’t agree. One wants “Block Corner” and the other wants “Dress Up Corner.” Both great corners, by the way.

Anyways, I hope the clip below will give you a laugh and a close look into what I like to think of what takes place in my house, Preschool Musical.  It’s my life to the “T” without the singing hamster, of course! So know that you are NOT alone in toddler ville and just keep telling yourself, “the days are long, but the years are short!”

Converting from Blogger to WordPress

Hey all, Dad With a Minivan here. Normally we don’t really discuss the topic of “blogging” here at, but today I wanted to share something that I think could be really valuable for some of our readers who blog. If you have a blog on Blogger and you wish you could convert it to WordPress but don’t want to lose your followers and all the work you’ve put into your blogger blog, then keep reading!

I started my first blog in 2008. I started it on Blogger because it was free and very easy to setup. This was great for awhile, but once I had built a following, I wanted to be able to customize my blog more than I could using just blogger. (MomWithaMinivan has been on from the beginning).

After time, I realized that what I really wanted was a self hosted blog through (not, there’s a big difference).

The problem I faced is that by the time I was ready to embrace blogging and switch to WordPress, I was ranking well in Google search results and I didn’t want to lose that by starting a new blog from scratch.

So I began researching how to convert my blog from blogger to WordPress without loosing my followers. I talked to a couple of professional bloggers I know and they both said that it couldn’t be done. I was bummed. It took almost a year, but I finally found a way to do it that worked well enough for me.

I just recently discovered an even better way to convert from blogger to WordPress by reading at John, over at tentblogger, is a real pro who isn’t just a great blogger, he’s also a top level coder/programmer. He has actually converted several blogs from blogger to worpress using the method he describes here. He’s also has some sweet dance moves he occasionally shares with his readers.(My wife made me put that last line in!)

I wasted so much time feeling “stuck” on blogger before converting to WordPress that I want to help spread the word to let others know that IT IS possible to make the move and keep your followers and google ranking. Happy blogging to you!

Top iPhone Apps for Mom

If you were like me, after owning my iphone for only 24 hours, I was hooked! Unrecognizable emotions and questions of “How did I ever live without this thing before?” occurred often and still does to this day. There’s only one other gadget in this world that has made me swoon more and that’s the iPad. Yes, I used the words gadget, me and swoon in the same sentence. Something 5 years ago I would have said was not possible. I’m a grounded down to earth kind of girl. But believe me, this iPhone makes my life organized and simpler.

The editors over at found a great website called The iPhone Mom. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should! It has great individual catagories to check out, such as , apps appropriate for your toddlers, preschoolers and elementary and older aged kids. Mom’s there are apps with weekly specials updated often and even a category for iPads. You can and probably will get lost. A good kind of lost! also had The iPhone Mom put together a list of the Top 50 Apps for Moms. Check it out!
