Top iPhone Apps for Mom

If you were like me, after owning my iphone for only 24 hours, I was hooked! Unrecognizable emotions and questions of “How did I ever live without this thing before?” occurred often and still does to this day. There’s only one other gadget in this world that has made me swoon more and that’s the iPad. Yes, I used the words gadget, me and swoon in the same sentence. Something 5 years ago I would have said was not possible. I’m a grounded down to earth kind of girl. But believe me, this iPhone makes my life organized and simpler.

The editors over at Babble.com found a great website called The iPhone Mom. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should! It has great individual catagories to check out, such as , apps appropriate for your toddlers, preschoolers and elementary and older aged kids. Mom’s there are apps with weekly specials updated often and even a category for iPads. You can and probably will get lost. A good kind of lost!

Babble.com also had The iPhone Mom put together a list of the Top 50 Apps for Moms. Check it out!

What is your favorite “Can’t Live Without” Apps on your iPhone?

No Go Blissdom Blog Hop Answers

**For those of you that are not familiar with what  the Blissdom Conference is, check it out. I wish I could have gone to the Conference in Nashville, but this just wasn’t the year for it. So, I’m doing the next best thing and that’s linking up with other women bloggers who also couldn’t make it.  While a tad sad, we are still blessed because we are the ones who get to network in our jammies and with no makeup on if we so choose! That is a Win/Win! **

Excited for the next couple of days.  I’m ecstatic that we get to connect through the No Go Blissdom Blog Hop! Woot! Woot! Link Up if you haven’t already and join in on the fun.

1. When did you start blogging and Why?

I started blogging about 2 years ago. It has taken me this long (mostly my kids fault!) to get my blog to a point that I am super proud of and I finally feel like I have a direction and a goal with it. While I think it will be ever changing in order to reach my goals, i think I’m on my way.

WHY?:

Well, Let’s be honest here and just state the obvious. I’m a stay at home mom to 3 kids, 4 years of age and under. (enough said, right?! I’m crazy!) I don’t get out much. It’s my way of staying connected to the outside world and I’ve fallen in love with the power of words. The power of stories. The power of  laughter and the power of community. Thanks to whomever is responsible for the Internet! : )

2. What is one thing you are going to do this week that is WAY cooler than going to BlogHer?

Tough one to answer! For one, I get to clean my bathrooms. Yay! I know, you’re totally jealous, right?! My kids have been sick the last 8 days and they are officially back in school as of today! Thank God! Time to get the house back in to some order. I’ve also been researching for an upcoming project that has to do with Parents and Social Media. It something that gets my creative juices flowing. Did I mention that I can do all of these things in my jammies if I wanted to? It’s true. No one that is actually attending Blissdom can do that! : )

3. Share a post that you think says a lot about you or is your favorite.

You can find the post I chose that is one of the best glimpses into the kind of things that happen to me daily with 3 kids under 4 years of age HERE. (yes, it involves boogies!) Check out my About post to get to know me too!

Happy No Go Blissdom Blog Hop! Leave me a comment so I can check out your blog too!

Best Rookie Mom Gift

It’s award season in Hollywood. I’m a fan of watching all the stars in their glitz and glamour and enjoy watching the award shows. Especially if they are previously recorded on the DVR and I can fast forward through whatever I want to! Sometimes its my only way of keeping up with trends, fashion, hair etc. Although it does make my husband and I feel old at times. Anyways, award season got me to thinking, when is Mommy award season? I mean, I know Mother’s Day comes around once a year in May, but it seems like it should be more than that. So since I can’t award every mom in the world, (I so wish I could!) I’ve decided to start hearing people out on what some of the best Mommy gear, tools, gifts, etc. are worthy of an award. In case you were wondering, my awards are a beautiful minivan made of Swarovski crystal. Not really. But maybe someday.

So the first category up for discussion and voting is: Best Rookie Mom Gift

I’ll go first with my nomination. When giving a gift to a rookie mom, i like to think of things that she will use after the 3 month mark. Practical things that she may not know she’s going to need or appreciate. So my vote goes to the Squirt. It’s amazing and an unbelievable handy tool to have with a baby. Awesome for on the go! Easy to use. Easy to clean up.Check it out if you’ve never heard of it.

Ready, Set, Vote! What one gift would you give to a rookie mom?

Freezer Day Cooking…

Happy 2011! I know, I know. It’s like almost the end of January and I haven’t posted in over a month. Bad Me! But I’m a huge fan of all the ideas that came flooding my way while on a break. You should try it sometime.

So one of my new year’s resolutions is to try a day of Freezer Cooking at least 3 times this year. Some of you just rolled your eyes. Others of you can’t believe that I’ve never done one. Whatever side you are on, I need your help! For those of you that may not be familiar with what a Freezer Cooking Day is, it’s simply a day of cooking and preparing several meals and/or ingredients and freezing them for future use to feed your family. I hear its a great budget saver and its easy to go to the freezer and put together a great meal when you may be in a pinch. Because we all know that 5pm comes faster on some days and sometimes plans change and we get home later than expected. Plus, With home cooked meals you are also guaranteed to know what ingredients are going into your kids bodies.

Family meals are important in our house and its a great time to sit down with each other and talk about our days and other events. I know some of you are thinking, I barely get to sit down at meal time. I have toddlers! Well, I’m in the same boat and I hear ya! But having everything ready and prepared can make it simpler for you and I promise, when your kids are older, they will thank you for the hard working, home cooking mama that you are. I like to think of it as a legacy I’m passing on. I hope my kids will learn to have family meal times when they have their own families some day.

Our goal, is to eat 6 home cooked dinners a week. One night is for eating out. Dinner doesn’t always have to be gourmet. This can be a simple meal. Breakfast for dinner is awesome people! We won’t always achieve this goal every week, but so far it’s working for us. We don’t have the same meals every week. We like to change it up. A weekly meal plan has been awesome. (I use to make fun of the people that did this, but it actually works!) Just a little bit of planning and wah-la! Dinner is served.

So back to needing your help. I’m looking for some of the best meals/recipes to freeze. If you have a post about this topic or some recipes that are freezer friendly then link up and I’m sure many will enjoy and I know I will appreciate it much! Tell me what works for you. Tips and advice will go a long way! Happy Cooking!
